Writing Prompt: What can happen in a second?

A smile.
The drop of a needle.*
Lightning striking Ground Zero.
A high-magnitude earthquake.
Car bombs,
Spider jumps
& two-thirds of "I love you."

* I meant a record needle. For the brevity I'm displaying, I want to find short ways of being more specific.
